Happy Holidays! Wait a minute! As proud Christians, we have the duty to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We KNOW what time of year it is. Let’s not make it an ambiguous time, we are not going to please all by wishing people “happy holidays”. The birth of our God and Savior is what Christmas is all about.
Did you guys know what the name Jesus means? Jesus is actually derived from the Hebrew name, Yeshua, which has its Semitic root that means “to rescue”, to “deliver”.
Do y’all remember what Emmanuel means? Emmanuel means that God is with us. So, if we were to put Jesus and Emmanuel together, it would mean that God came to us to rescue/deliver us. Let’s marinate on this for a minute...
Why would someone like our God come into this world to rescue you and me?? Isn’t our God Almighty and Powerful? Couldn’t He just save us from His throne in heaven? He could’ve just snapped His fingers and commanded that our sins were forgiven and it would be so. Why did He have to come to earth and suffer the humiliation and death that He endured?
Jesus came to provide the bridge from the Old Testament onto the New Testament. To bridge the old customs and the new that will be everlasting.
As you all know, in the old days, the blood of “unblemished” animals was offered to God as forgiveness for our sins. In the new, the blood of the “unblemished” PERFECT SON of GOD was offered as the ultimate and final offering for all our sins; past, present, and into the future! Our Creator deemed us worthy to come and personally become the last blood offering that we will ever need for the forgiveness of our sins. All this so that we can be with Him when it is our time to return to our Creator.
I hope you all remember that it is not about the number of presents underneath the Christmas tree nor is it about the monetary value that those presents represent. Instead of thanking your parents for those gifts, thank the ONE who gave our parents’ life so that they could give us what we have. Everything must go back to our Creator, without Him, we are not possible! Always keep in mind that Christmas is the story about how our God loved us enough to personally come into this world, to be with us for a short time, and to deliver us from eternal death by His own perfect and final blood offering on the cross.
For this reason, I wish you all a very
Merry Christmas! Happy birthday to our Creator, Father, and Redeemer!
