Youth
우리 교회 Youth는
Q: Pastor Clay, can you briefly introduce yourself?
A: I’m Pastor Clay Harris. I teach the youth during the worship service each Sunday afternoon. I became a believer in 1977 after hearing the gospel from my girlfriend in a parked car in her sorority house parking lot. That young woman made such an impression that I married her. Dedie and I have been married for 41 years. We have 11 children, 14 grandchildren, and 3 grandchildren on the way. As you can tell, we really like kids. For the past four years I have been the Children and family pastor at Anderson Mill Baptist Church where I have encouraged families and children through Bible study, Vacation Bible School and family events. I am also part-time chaplain at the Travis County Correctional Complex where I have preached, taught Bible studies, and provided one-on-one counseling to men.
Q: What is the specific ministry method?
A: Since the spring, the youth and I have been working our way through the Bible beginning in Genesis. So far we have studied Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers. In Numbers, the Children of Israel are heading to the Promised Land. Now one of the things I taught the youth that whenever they heard me say, “Promised Land” they were to say, “Let’s Go!” They did that because the Children of Israel were excited about getting to the promised land. And for us the promised land is just a picture of heaven. And whenever someone says “heaven” to us, we ought to have the same expression on our lips, “Let’s Go!”
Q: What are your expectations for ministry?
A: We’ve taken a break from the Old Testament, we’re looking at the book of John. My intention with the youth is to go through all the books in the Bible as a survey of the Bible. Take a look at each book as a good overview so we can understand God’s purpose in the Bible and the different books He placed in it. In the book of John, we’re embracing John’s purpose in John 20:31, “these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” Week-by-week we talk about the gospel, and how the gospel should make an impact in our lives practically. We should do better in school, should impact our relationships, even our family life it should have a bearing and impact. We’re looking specifically in the book of John at the seven miracles Jesus performed as well as the seven “I Am” statements. I look forward to seeing them week-by-week. It’s a real privilege for me to teach them on Sunday afternoons. Thank you and God bless you.
