Happy weekend to our Woori Youth!
Hope that you all have been safe and enjoying online or in school classes. Who actually enjoys school?? Not everyone, but if it’s something that has to be done, do it with a positive attitude! It will make it more bearable and enjoyable. This week, we will focus on the Gospel of John 11. It’s a story we all know. Lazarus, whom Jesus loved, died and was buried. Please take some time to read and discuss with your family the importance of what Jesus is teaching Lazarus’ sister and us. Have a great day of Worship and a safe week of school.
Do you know who Albert Einstein is? I’m sure we all have heard of him, but how do we believe the mathematical equations that he theorized are true? When it comes to math or science, the answer lies in the way the theory is proven through exhaustive research to make sure the theory is proven to be correct. If not, then it's back to another hypothesis. Now, we all have some understanding of who Jesus is. We were taught that He is the Son of God, made to be man, who suffered, died, and was raised on the third day to sit at the right hand of God and will come to judge the living and the dead when He comes to establish His Kingdom on earth forever! We all know the “textbook” definition of who Jesus is, but do we actually believe this doctrine of Christianity?
Knowing and believing seem to be one and the same, but these are very different thoughts. Knowing someone or something should not automatically make you believe in that thing or person. Sometimes, through our human nature, we always want some kind of proof to help us to believe. The Jews and others had a very tough time believing that Jesus was the Messiah or the Christ of God. Jesus offers them an explanation in John 10:37-38:
“If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”
We, in the present, did not have an opportunity to see the works that Jesus performed during His ministry in Jerusalem while He was on earth. Yet, we are asked to believe that Jesus was and is the Son of God. Why do we have to believe this??
John 11:25-26:
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Why? Because when we believe in Jesus, we will never die! We take our last breath on earth and take our FIRST breath in Heaven as believers of Jesus! It is still sometimes hard to believe when we have not seen Him.
But, we have something that we can use to “bridge” the gap between knowing and believing in Jesus. We all have FAITH! Faith is THE reassurance that belief in Jesus as the resurrected Son of God guarantees us eternal life. It also means believing without seeing. We can always “know” Jesus, but without Faith, we can never truly “believe” in Him. Knowing Jesus does not guarantee eternal life, but truly believing in Jesus is our “insurance policy” towards acceptance into His Kingdom.
Hoping to see you all soon at Papa’s house.
