A happy, cool, and sunny Saturday to our Woori youth! This year is flying by! It’s already almost mid-May. Another school year is almost over! For me anyway, the more I seem to enjoy the days that God has given me, the faster they seem to go by. Or, maybe I’m just getting older!
Although the governing agencies are slowly releasing the restrictions concerning social distancing, please be vigilant in doing our part so that a resurgence will bot occur. Sometimes patience is hard to keep, but it is always triumphant in the long run.
This week's sermon focuses on why God’s word is the foundation, the pillar that our families MUST be based upon. Please take a few minutes to read: Genesis18:18-19 and Deuteronomy 6:4-9. Please stay safe another week and be vigilant in your prayers for those that have been ravaged by this pandemic. Helping with money is temporary, helping with prayers is everlasting! Looking forward to the day when we can worship and give glory to THE GOD above all gods together.
Jesus has commanded us to spread His word to every nation, city, and person in the world. But, in the Old Testament, Jesus commands parents to teach their children concerning the Commandment that is most important among the 10 Commandments. It’s also the first Commandment. Does anyone know what that is?
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
This sounds very familiar, right? The first part of the 2 Great Commandments that Jesus himself taught when asked which of the Commandments was the greatest?
In case you forgot, the other is Matthew 22:39
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Most of you will be married and have children in the future. It will be your duty to instruct them in the ways of God’s Word. It is not anybody else’s!
I see so many parents that think to go to church every Sunday and having their children attend Sunday school is all they have to do to continue the legacy of Jesus’ teachings. I hate to say it, but this is not enough! God tells us that it is the responsibility of parents to instruct children, not someone else’s in making sure that children are brought up according to His laws. Our pastor has emphasized that parents MUST become pastors of each household! Worship, love, and respect for God must start at home. Just like discussing everyday events that happen in our lives over dinner, we, as a family, must have frequent conversations of Bible readings that teach us of how God created, loves, and leads us in our lives. From my personal experiences, the more you start acknowledging and thanking God for the blessings that He gives us each day, the more we become close to Him, the more we rely on Him, and ultimately, we allow Him to lead our lives according to His plan for us. Children grow up to become a product of their environment. We as parents have a commanded responsibility to teach them according to God’s teachings. It’s not anybody else’s, but our own. Parents, please make sure that the environment your children grow up in is filled with God’s teachings. Only then can our children learn to love not only our Creator and Father but love each other as we love ourselves. Let our worship of God start at home, only then can we have the confidence to spread the Word of God to all His creation. See you all very soon at Papa’s house!
